Welcome to Treasure Trove HQ!

I’m Randy Salars, a lifelong adventurer, prospector, and explorer, born and raised in the historic mining and ranching town of Silver City, New Mexico. My journey into treasure hunting and gold prospecting began early, shaped by countless hours spent with my dad working our family’s small silver mine in the Burro Mountains. Those formative years weren’t just about digging for silver—they were about uncovering the beauty of the land, the thrill of discovery, and the stories hidden beneath the surface.

After high school, my desire to serve and explore led me to join the United States Marine Corps, where I embraced discipline, teamwork, and a global perspective. My time in the Marines instilled in me a passion for problem-solving and the courage to venture into the unknown—skills that have proven invaluable in treasure hunting and prospecting.

Following my service, I returned to civilian life with a desire to make a difference. I became the director of a small rescue mission, dedicating myself to helping others find hope and new beginnings. It was a deeply rewarding chapter of my life, and the values of perseverance, hard work, and community stayed with me long after my tenure there.

Now retired, I’ve returned to my roots, spending my days doing what I love most: writing, prospecting, and exploring. Whether it’s panning for gold in a hidden stream, tracing the history of lost treasures, or venturing into uncharted terrain, I’m always chasing that next big adventure.

Through Treasure Trove HQ, I aim to share the knowledge, stories, and excitement of the treasure-hunting world. Whether you’re a seasoned prospector or a beginner looking for your first nugget, this site is a place where we can all learn, explore, and dream together.

Thanks for stopping by—let’s dig in and discover something amazing!

Happy hunting,
Randy Salars
